D. At her home in Georgetown, Dec. 8, 1953, Mrs. Hector MaeKinuon, said to be 103 years of age. She was born as Ellen MacDonald, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John MacDonald, Georgetown Royalty, but moved to nearby Burnt Point when she married Hector MacKinnon, seventy-seven years ago. Her husband predeceased her in 1903 and she has outlived all her family of six sons and one daughter. In 1946, after the
death of her last son, she moved with his widow, Ella MacKinnnon, to Georgetown. Her obituary says “the gaelic, she learned as a child from her pioneering parents, as she did the arts of weaving, spinning and candle- making, and were practiced almost daily for many years of her lifetime”. D. In Ottawa, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Hempstock, on Dec. 29, 1953, John A. MacKinnon in his 83rd year. He was born in Georgetown, the son of John MacKinnon and Jeanette Duff. He married Christine Skinner who died 4 years, 5 months ago. He was purser on the S.S. Electra and S.S. Enterprire, and then bookkeeper for Brstem Canncries before he became a grocer first at the comer of Grafton and Kent and later at the corner of Richmond and Kent, until he sold his business in 1937 to Ashley Allen. He was Presbyterian and a Conservative in politics. Burial was in Ottawa. (Guardian, Dec. 30, 1953)
