M. At St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Toronto, Ont., on Feb. 15th, Rev. Father Golner officiating, Lillian Anne MacDonald, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Aeneas MacDonald, Georgetown, RBI. and Charles Edwin Duffy, son of Mrs. and the late Frederick Duffy of lake Verde, P.E.I.. D. Suddenly, of a heart seizure, at his home in Georgetown, on Mar. 15th, 1958. Gordon Wallace Yorston, aged 43. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Yorston, Georgetown, and sewed in the army in World War 11. He married Lois latter, of Charlottetown and they had five children: Dona (si_c), Gloria, Gordon, Clifton and Winston; also four brothers: John, at Montague; Roy, Melville and Sterling in Georgetown, Florence (Mrs. James Timmons) Haverhill, Mass; Myrtle (Mrs. James Bridges), Georgetown; Maizie, and Velma (Mrs. Don Rankin), both of Calgary, Alta. D. Suddenly, while at his work, on Mar. 28th, John. H. Yorston, Montague, in his 58th year.. He was the eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Yorston, Georgetown. He married Bertha MacLellan who survives him and also a son. John. Also surviving are brothers: Roy, Melville, and Sterling, all of Georgetown, and sisters, Florence (Mrs. Timmons, Mass), Myrtle (Mrs. Bridges. Maizie and Velma(Mrs. Rankin), the lattertwo of Calgary, Alta. Brothers Russell and Gordon also died suddenly recently. (From Guardian, Mar. 29, 1958 )

B. “At the Charlottetown Hospital, April 22, 1958, to Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Gotell, Georgetown, a daughter, Anne Marie, 7le 3 1/2 023”. (Guardian, April 26, 1958)

D. At the P.E.l. Hospital, May 7, 1958, Mrs. Arthur E. Jenkins of Georgetown in her 74th year. She was Myrtle Manuel, the daughter of James and Damaris (Westaway) Manuel. “In her younger days she was active in the musical and entertainment field in the town as she was a beautiful singer and also a very fine pianist” Leftto mourn are her husband and three sons: Robert C. of H.M.C.S. Stadacona, Halifax, Frederick [Ted] of Woodside, N.S., and Hibbett in Georgetown. Service from the Baptist Church and interment in the Baptist Cemetery, Georgetown. (From Guardian. May 8, 1958)

D. At Georgetown, May 26th, Arthur L. Jones. He was born at Medford, Mass, May 13, 1888 and lived most of his working life in the U.S.A. but in 1955 took up residence in retirement in Burnt Point. His wife Adele Hemphill was a native of that area. Left to mourn besides his wife are two sons [be a previous marriage ‘2]; Arthur of Miltis, Mass. and Richard of Corinna, Maine; also a daughter Doris, Brockton, Mass.. Interment in St. 11);;id’s Cemetery, Georgetown. (Guardian, May 28, 8)

D. At Georgetown, on June 8, 1958, John L. MacDonald in his 77th year. He was born at Burnt Point and married Elizabeth Irving of Cambridge, P.E.l.. He was a lobster fisherman, watchman and fireman for the potato warehouse and for a time, town policeman. Left to mourn are his widow; four sons: James of Montreal; John, Wallace and Irving of Georgetown and six daughters: Winnifred (Mrs. Albert Lavers), Charlottetown; Helen (Mrs. Aubrey Downey), Montreal;

B. To Cpl. & Mrs. John H. Parker in Northwestern Hospital, Toronto, a son Gary John. Cpl. Parker [the son of the late Horace Parker, Georgetown Royalty, P.E.I.] is with the R.C.A.F. at Downsview, Ont.. His mother, Barbara Parker, lives in Georgetown Royalty. Mrs. Parker was the former Nel (sic) Sweet, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Mathias Sweet of Cascumpec, P.E.I. (Guardian, June 19, 1958)

Golden Anniversary: Of Mr. & Mrs. Herman Lavandier of Georgetown, P.E.I.. They were married at St. Ann’s RC. Church, Glace Bay, N.S., June 17, 1908. Mr. Lavandier was born at Georgetown. Mrs. Lavandier (Lucretia Hadley of Hadleyville, N. S.) was born in 1888. Their family of four include: Dora (Mrs. W. J. Hook), Charlottetown; Frances, Georgetown, Amos, Hawthorne, NY. and Raymond, Georgetown. (From Guardian, June 19, 1958, includes picture)

D. Atthe Winnipeg General Hospital, July 1, 1958, Rev. Parrnenas MacLeod, 81, formerly of Georgetown, P.E.I.. He was a descendant of the Selkirk settlers and was ordained to the Presbyterian (later United Church) ministry after some years teaching school and was in his early days a principal of Georgetown High School. left to mourn is his second wife, Ruby J. Read, of Port El gin, N.B. His first wife was Mable Henry of Newcastle, Ont.. Also left to mourn are two sons: T.H., Regina and Neil A., of Victoria, BC. and two daughters: Margaret of Winnipeg and Mrs. Marian Shepherd of Vancouver. [His brothers, Albion and Charles and sister, Sadie, of Georgetown, predeceased him.] (Guardian, July 7, 1958)

D. “At the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, July 12th, 1958, Catherine Keenan, aged 83 years, formerly of Georgetown Royalty. Burial in Maiden, Mass. (Guardian, July 15, 1958)

M. At St. James Church, Georgetown, P.E.I., on Aug. 11th, 1958, Rev. Father Kiggins officiating, Joyce Mary Margaret Fogarty, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Fogarty to Roy James MacKenzie, son of Mrs. MacKenzie and the late William MacKenzie, Cambridge, Mass . . The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, John Morrison, jr. Attendants were Genevieve Fogarty and Edward Pendleton. The couple will reside in Cambridge, Mass. (From Guardian, Sept. 20, 1958)

D. At the hospital in Pictou, N.S., on Aug. 17th, Milton George Hemphill, aged 64. Milton Hemphill was a native of Georgetown, P.E.1, the son of John and Ina (MacKeeman) Hemphill and was a seaman and shipwright. He moved to Pictou in 1940. His wife, who survives him, was MarthaGotell of Georgetown, and his family include four sons and six daughters: Walter, Sydney; Ralph, Pictou; Milton Jr., Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., Elwin at home, Constance (Mrs. Pat Kent) of Calendar, Ont; Thelma (Mrs. Allister MacNeil, Pictou) Eleanor (Mrs. Binnie Burke), Parrsboro, N.S.; Joyce, (Mrs. Tucker) Sudbury, Ont; Joan (Mrs. Archie MacDonald, Pictou, Audrey (Mrs. Yvon Melanson), Hamilton, Ont, also 22 grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Mrs. Ella (Victor) Rafuse, and Mrs. Lily (Allister)
