D. At the Charlottetown Hospital, Jan. 30th, 1967, Walter Soloman, Souris, formerly of Georgetown, P.E.1., in his 54th year. Afternaining in New York City he barbered in Georgetown and Souris. He was a veteran of World War 11 and served on the Souris Town Council;. he is survived by his wife, the former Lucy Scully, of Georgetown, by sons: Roger, and Walter, Jr., of Souris and Terry in BC. and daughters: Diane (Mrs. Denis Thibodeau,) Georgetown; Beverly, Charlottetown; and Ann at home; also a granddaughter, Paulette; also surviving are sisters: Mrs. Romie Ceredini, New York City; Agnes (Mrs. Percy Henry), Georgetown; Stella (Mrs. Percy Bolger, Surmnerside, and Frieda (Mrs. Gerald Morrison), Georgetown. D. At the P.E.I. Hospital, Feb. 8th, 1967, Miss Helen J. Gotell, aged 57, Georgetown. P.E.I.. She was born in Georgetown, the daughter of Frederick Gotell and Pauline Martin and leaves to mourn a sister: Mary (Mrs. Edward Clark), Mount Stewart and two brothers: John D., Georgetown and Leo of Montreal. Predeceasing her in recent years were her sister, Mrs. Michael Burke, who passed as in June 1966, and her brother Marcellus of Georgetown whose death occurred in 1964. D. At the RBI. Hospital, Feb. 14th, 1967, Havelock Stewart, in his 77th year, He was born in Georgetown the son of Alexander Stewart and Emily Hobbs. He served overseas in World War 1. He is survived by a sister Mabel (Mrs. George Brace), Edmonton, Alberta. Funeral from St. David’s Church, Georgetown (From Guardian, Feb. 15, 1967)

D. “At the Stamper Residence, Charlottetown Feb. 28, 1967, Miss Minnie Owen, in her 84th year. Private funeral at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Charlottetown with interment in the church cemetery.” (Guardian, Mar. 1 & 2, 1967) She was the youngest daughter of Charles Owen and Annie Muncey Owen of Georgetown, P.E.I.. “During the period that her sister, Mrs. MacKinnon, was Chatelaine at Government House, Miss Owen assisted in making every entertainment a joyous occasion.” Left to mourn are a sister, Mrs. Alder Brehaut, of Ithaca, New York, a niece Miss Beatrice MacKinnon, Charlottetown and other nieces and nephews in USA. and Canada. D. On March9th as a result of a fire in his home, Melvin Hayes Yorston, aged 52. He was a veteran of World War 11, and is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Bridges, Georgetown, Maisie, Calgary and Velma Rankin, Calgary. Funeral from St. David’s Church. D. “The death occurred at the Charlottetown Hospital on Mar. 24th, 1967 of John Edgar, infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Boudreault, Georgetown, P.E.I..” (Guardian, April 1, 1967)

D. On April 4th, 1967 at Gowan Brae, P.E.I., \Vrlliam Abkin Howlett, in his 9lst year. He was born in Georgetown, P. E.I. but moved to Gowan Brae where he farmed and raised his family. He leaves to mourn his wife, Agatha Lawless, a son Abkin, at home, a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Grant, Souris. Another daughter passed away in Halifax the day following her father’s death. D. Suddenly, on April 19th, John David Gotell, Georgetown, aged64 years. Remains at the home of Mr., John Batchilder, Georgetown. Interment in St. James

E. Mr. & Mrs. Colin Macdonald of Georgetown Royalty wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Florence Jean, to Garry Vincent McCarron of Montague, April 29th at St. James Church, Georgetown.” (m, April 24, 1967)

D. The death occurred suddenly on April 26th, 1967 of John Thomas Batchilder of Georgetown, in his 85th year. He followed the sea for most of his life serving on the eariy Georgetown ice-breakers, then on the Brant and later on the Wood islands-Caribou ferry run. He also farmed. His wife, Philomena Gallant, of Rustico predeceased him. He leaves to mourn four daughters and five sons: Mary (Mrs. Peter Jay), Charlottetown; Agnes (Mrs. Temple Macdonald), Georgetown Royalty; Catherine (Mrs. Frank Power), Elliotvale, P.E.I..; Janie at home; Bernard. Georgetown; Walter, Calgary; Ferdinand, Toronto; Stephen, Charlottetown; Leonard, Serpent River, Ont.. Also 47 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. D. In the Kings County Memorial Hospital, Montague, P.E.1, on June 19th, 1967, Mrs. Joseph MacPhee, Georgetown, aged 67 years. She was born Rose MacDonald in Georgetown the daughter of Allan MacDonaldand Carolyn MacCormack. Her husband died in 1951. She leaves to mourn two daughters: Eleanor (Mrs. Howard MacLean, Georgetown, and Katherine (Mrs. Ward Dryden), Airdire, Alberta, and three sons: Frank, of Calgary, Albert (Abbie), and Allan of Georgetown.
