He was also well—known as a fisherman and fishing guide. He was a lobster fisherman and carpenter and one of the founders of the Southern Packing Company. He served as a town councilor. He was predeceased by his wife, Maurie Yorston, in 1943; and by brothers Frank and Harry and sisters Margaret and Molly. He is survived by three sons: Howard S., mayor of Georgetown; Walter; and Harold of Charlottetown and by daughters: Anne (Mrs. Irving Sampson), Georgetown, and Isabelle (Mrs. Gerald Asseltine), Weston, Ont; also by two sisters.
