signed the charter back on that eventful day on June 9, 1926. Over the years the Tignish fisheries have gained a reputation

throughout the world as an example of people working together for the success of their own industry. Through its 75-year history the business owes its success to those early Pioneer fishermen, good management, loyal employees and the persistence of

management at the fisheries. To keep abreast of changes taking place in the fishing

industry The new Royal Star Food Plant that opened on April 22, 1996 with the latest in technology and processing techniques, is just another step up the ladder that continues to be brought forward by the fishermen. At the present time higher valued products are been processed yielding higher prices for the fisheries. Tignish fisheries continue to provide employment to hundred of local workers in their processing plant. Tignish fisheries due mainly through their struggles, have remained competitive and continue to leave their ”Star of the Sea” products on the World markets.
