The Past

In moving closer to the rich fishing grounds at North Cape, back in those early pioneer days, father met and married Annie Dawson, in what was to become a long and happy life together. The marriage, according to father, brought with it a lot of contentment back into his life. After long years of sailing and no

family waiting for his return, he felt his life was at last complete. ' It was in

that little shanty home at Jude’s Point where three sons, Lloyd, Roy and 3 Chester, and daughters Margaret and this writer took their first breath of that salt filled air. Being born at home in those days was a normal part of life. Mother would arrange for a family relative or midwife, come at time of birth, to make sure things in the family was carried on as normal as possible. Childbearing back in those days, were kept secret and away from the children, until the birth of the baby was over.
