With the Tignish Aces having such defenders as, Leo Richard , Robert Keough , Ken McRae , Terry Gavin , Benny Kinch, Elmer Perry , Reg Eldershaw, Melvin LeClair , Charlie Harper , Arthur Fennessey , Leo Fennessey and Charlie Mc Innis In 1960 a group of sports minded citizens in Tignish , joined together to work on building a closed in rink for the Community. Having no money to start, one brave individual laid a ten-dollar bill on the floor and remarked go with that. Little did he know at the time, his challenge would be met by a determined group of sports minded people four years later. Hearing the good news homes opened their doors for card parties, bingos, auctions, and what ever would bring in money to open an account at the local Credit Union. A lobster Bonanza was set up and fishermen provided the lobsters. Their wives wanting to help, held two lobster suppers in the old cookhouse at Jude's Point, and what a success that was. In the spring of 1962 the Tignish Sports Recreation Association was formed. John Gavin a 19-year-old bookkeeper at the Tignish Co-Operative was elected president. The board of directors were: Rev.
