Coming Home
Back in the days when Tignish was young 7799 the first settlers had come
Acadian families landed by sea
On an Island where they wanted to live free
7811 the Irish folk came, followed by Scotchmen With strong sense of family, and pride in their names Working the soil and fishing the sea
Together they created a proud history
Harnessing the wealth of the sea and the plain They labored for days in the sun and the rain We are the reapers of the seeds that were sown Thank God for providing our family homes
We are a people sharing culture and race
After two hundred years in A proud Island place Passing down stories and singing old songs
To the tune of the fiddle, toe—tap—along
Each generation have lived much the same Greeting each other and calling ones name When you come back from wherever you roam Handshakes and smiles will welcome you home.
