My grandmother, fondly known as Nanny by my cousins and myself, was born in the small fishing community of Tignish, in 1923. Throughout her years in living with my grandfather ,_- Reg, they have raised a family of four children, Karen, Rena, Midge and Billy. They also have 10
grandchildren. Edie has been involved in
the community, in such things as the Red Cross, Ladies Auxiliary and many boards and committees across the Province of Prince Edward Island. For her many years of volunteer work, she has received many prestigious awards. Among them are the Order of Red Cross, Island Woman of the Year, National Citation for
Citizenship and the Order of Prince Edward Island. Her experience as a Journalist, first with the Charlottetown
Guardian and then the Journal Pioneer, along with her own life experiences are expressed in this book.—— Tara Little
