Stewart MacDonald , M.D. I remember coming from a dance in Iris. The thunder and rain were so bad on the way home that on one deep clap of thunder the horse made such a spring that she broke the single-tree and we had to get out in the pelting rain to fix it up. One time we were going to Caledonia and the horse's feet were sliding along as she tried to hold back the wagon on the big dump. I think of this and of the time I was going to see a patient in Iris after many lost hours of sleep, as well as a day spent in Dorchester Penitentiary where I had opportunity to be the prison doctor. I was so tired that I never even saw the the big dump, although I kept waiting for it. Was I asleep? In his late years Jimmie sold the farm. The house has been moved to the shore near MacPherson's creek and the farm has no connection to its once abundant growth. Jimmie was very successful in a grocery store close to the river in Murray River and I am sure no one was ever slighted an ounce of sugar. He and his wife have died and are buried in the Mur¬ ray River cemetery. I always recall the many good times we enjoyed together when I drive past the Murray River cemetery.
