Donald MacPherson Donald MacPherson was a brother of my father's mother. Donald was a big man who loved to "fight," just for the fun of it, not to make enemies. He owned the farm between John E. MacDonald 's and Sam Dixon 's. It was a large farm, which ran from the shore of Northumberland Strait to the , a distance of just two miles. Donald and his wife left Little Sands and moved to Montana with their large family, mostly boys. One son, John, returned and he became Dan MacPherson 's father. As he left the farm, I suppose Donald sold it to Robert Dixon , the mill owner, and father of Sam and Milburn. When Donald sold it, there was clear land from the shore to Bone Creek , which runs from east to west about a mile from the shore. What great effort must have been exerted to clear all that land of trees! It was one of the biggest farms of Little Sands . Their house was quite a distance north of the highway. At the north corner above the road lived Charlie Mac- Donald, a teacher who walked to Pinette and to Glen William when he taught school in those districts. On the southeast corner lived Sandy MacPherson , a man who had to make a living for his wife and two sons, although Sandy had no use of his legs after the age of 4 years. His¬ tory would suggest that he had become paralysed from polio. 17
