that I was not to be made a fool of, but should take my punishment like a man. The next day, when I was go— ing to school, Duncan met me at his gate and said “I have a song for you the next time he puts you on the ta- ble. The song is ’The Lost Sheep on the Mountain’.” Not long after, the teacher put me on the table and I said “I will sing ’The Lost Sheep on the Mountain’ if that is all right.” To this he agreed and I sang “Baa." He grabbed me off the table and did he ever put blisters on the back ' of my hands, as I kept my fists closed, but that ended the singing.
Duncan got quite a kick but he did not hear about the licking I got.
When Duncan got old he used to go to Pictou Island to stay with his brother during the winter, but we used to welcome him home the next spring.
