Danny Blue
he went to Boston, where he became a house
painter. When he arrived home in his later years he fixed up the old house which was getting very shaky. He put a new hardwood floor in the kitchen and polished it, as only a good painter could do. I recall a statement of Lauchie MacLean, a near neighbour who used to visit Danny’s home quite often and get the Boston stories. He stated that when Danny fixed the floor you had to wipe your shoes very clean before entering. At the last you had to wipe your shoes when you left.
Danny was the man who had the mineral rod when they dug for the gold at our shore. He could take a twig of a cherry tree and, with its fork-like structure, tell you the best area to dig a well, and how deep to go before finding water.
