Liberal strong men who decided who would work
on the roads and on every improvement of the Little Sands wharf. He had two boys and one girl. He was a good farmer and he had a big farm. The wine factory is located on his farm or nearby, below the road.
I met John Dan’s brother when I visited my father in Vancouver. They used to go walking on Sunday. One day they took me to see that big tree in Stanley Park which used to be pictured in the school geography. To my disgust, after walking about seven miles, it was only a stump about 50 feet high.
John Dan worked in a sugar plant. In piling the bags of sugar, he would take one of the 100 pound bags and throw it high on the storage pile. When he retired they had to get six men to do his job.
He was but one of the strong men who were born in Little Sands and went to work in the United States or Western Canada.
