Dr. Stewart MacDonald was born and grew up in Little Sands. He taught school before enlisting in the RCAF, and as a Navigator with the rank of Flying Officer, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as earning several other medals for his overseas service.
After the war, he resumed his studies at Prince of Wales College and Dalhousie University, graduating in 1953 with the degree of MD, CM. He practiced medicine in Eldon for six years, before leaving rural PEI to move to Charlottetown, becoming Senior Medical Officer and Senior Pensions Officer with Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. MacDonald resides in Charlottetown with his wife, Hesta, where he continues to
practice medicine.
