In respect to water communication the was never a good one and is now become worse than ever so much so that the inhabitants have almost abandoned the shipment of their simpler produce particularly in the fall of the year by water communication and and have therefore no alternative for the disposal of their surplus produce than resort to obtain a market in Charlotte town a distance of over thirty miles to George town a distance of over twenty miles and sometimes to Grand River much the same or about the same distance by the present route is to George town. But a Road in a straight line from the Head of Peters bay to Bridge would being the shippers of produce from this locality to within the a distance of Six miles and to often as it has proved of late years a ready money market and always to a safe place of shipment by , this object once accomplished would prove of vast benefit not only to the settlers of St. Peters Bay and the settlements in its immediate vacinity, but the ' surrounding country on the north side of the Island to a considerable extent would be greatly benefited thereby. Peter McCallum May 10, 1861 Enumerator Tours by No. 41 LOT 42: No remarks written LOT 56: The land is second quality. With regards to the roads the advantages are good if they are kept in repair. The Markets most resorted are Souris , Grand River and Fortune Harbour . The Harbours are very inconvenient to a number who are settled in this township. William Conohon June 12th, 1861 21 k
