Incorporated as a business in 1995, Whitty’s Construction, owned by Michael and Lete Whitty, actually began in 1986 with the purchase of a backhoe. By 1995 they had a dozer and dump trucks and now employ four seasonal workers. The company deals in construction, the digging of septic tanks, snow clearing, and they also have sand, topsoil, and gravel. In 1999, they began developing a cranberry bog in Farmington.
R. L. M. Holdings Inc., established in 1997, was incorporated in 2000. Owned by Trent Rattray, Wade Lewis, and Philip and Scott Milligan, R. M. L. Holdings constructed the building, which currently houses their Bike Rental and Outdoor Activities Business, and the Tourist Information Centre. Their scenic location at the end of the St. Peters road is in close proximity to the Confederation Trail.
R D Sanderson Construction, owned and operated by Robbie Sanderson, has been in business since 1997 . With four to five employees, they build homes, cottages, and also do renovations on existing buildings.
Hazel MacLaren’s Haizy Daisy Crafts shop in Forest Hill began as a small shop in her home. In her second year of business, Hazel had to build a shop because her business “got too big for her home." Hazel also makes flower arrangements for weddings, floral arrangements, and centerpieces. The shop is open in the afternoons of July, August, and September. Hazel states, however that she will open anytime for the local people.
My Country Parlor is a unique little craft shop that offers a variety of handmade Island crafts. Located on highway 2 at the Anderson Road. this shop is open the 15th of June until the 15th of September, during the months of November and December, or by appointment. In her third year of business, Ila also opened a Bed 8: Breakfast within her home, in addition to the craft shop.
The Friend’s Forever Childcare centre opened its doors on the 6““ of February in 1995. The centre offers a healthy and safe learning environment at affordable prices. In 1996 the centre was expanded, and currently has space for twenty»two children. There are two full time staff and one casual worker. At the present time the centre is self sufficient, holding fundraisers such as bingo and raffles to help keep what was ODCe just a dream, remain within the community.
Other businesses within St. Peters include Heart’s Ease, which iS a restaurant and Bed and Breakfast located on the south side of the bay - John Savoie, is the owner of Boo’s Construction.
