time it closed and they sold the lounge equipment to the Tyne Valley Fireman’s Club. The restaurant equipment was sold to a restaurant that
was opening in O’Leary.
Phillips Brothers Construction Ltd. purchased the building and property and in 1983, Jack Phillips opened a fast food and dairy bar, Jack’s Take- Out. Later, he reopened a portion of the dining room as an ‘eat-in’ area. In 1987 he sold the property to Kenny and Ellen Minard. They renamed it Kenny’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar Ltd. and renovated the hairdressing and lounge area of the building into their own living quarters.
Tyne Valley and Area Development Corporation
Tyne Valley and Area Development Corporation (TVADC) was incorpo- rated in 1993 as a non-profit organization. The mandate of the Corporation is to promote economic, cultural and employment opportu- nities within the area of Grand River/Richmond to Portage.
In 1994 members were Robert Henderson, James Campbell, Hartford Millar, Lisa Kernaghan (now Palmer), Carolyn Millar, Myles Ellis, Scott Levere, Florence Baker, Marie Barlow, John Maynard, Norman Bowser, and Steven Ellis.
One of the first projects undertaken was to move Britannia Hall to a dif- ferent location, renovating it into a 125 seat theatre with a fine restaurant attached. The first restaurant was called Four Fishermen. It was operated by Dismas LeBlanc for one year. Stefan Czapalay operated Seasons in Thyme until 1997. Calvin Burt operated Shipwright’s Café there from May 1998 to September 2000.
Other major projects sponsored by TVADC include: Crime Prevention, Soil Conservation, development of the West Country Heritage Drive, three recreational trails—one in an area that has been designated an environmentally protected bog, and assistance in the development of the Bideford Parsonage Museum.

region.
The Corporation has presented a Youth Theatre Camp in summer for several years, and has sponsored various youth employment projects.
