The Volunteer board consists of eleven community members from the region. Meetings are held monthly and various committees are appoint— ed. The Corporation directly creates in the vicinity of Io short-term jobs per year, working with various agencies for funding to help provide the employment. NO core funding is received for development purposes. The Corporation promotes the Westcountry region tO various organizations including the Tourism Industry Association of PEI, West Prince Tourism Association, West Prince Arts Council, Eastern Development Corporation, Theatre PEI, the Canadian Institute for Research on Regional Development, Evangeline Wildlife Federation and the PEI Fly Fishers Association.

When Leon and Gertrude Ensalata decided to sell the former Bideford Parsonage, residents of the community discovered that it might be moved out of the area. A group of concerned citizens joined efforts to obtain possession Of it to keep it in its original location. Support came from the Tyne Valley and Area Development Corporation and financial assistance to purchase the home was obtained from the Provincial Government.

After the community acquired the Parsonage in November, 1999, a sug— gestion that it be developed as a museum inspired enthusiasm. The West Country Historical Society, which had been organized in 1984 in support of Green Park Museum in Port Hill, was reorganized with the following SLATE OF OFFICERS: Wayne Trowsdale, Chairman; Donna Williams, Vice Chairman; Susan Burleigh, Secretary; Lorraine Robinson, Treasurer.

RESTORATION COMMITTEE: Susan Burleigh, David Dixon, Kristina Ellis representing Tyne Valley and Area Development Corporation (TVADC), Nan Ferrier, Steven Palmer representing Ellersie Bideford Community Council (EBCC), and Wayne Trowsdale.

HISTORICAL COMMITTEE: James Burleigh, Anne Dixon, Roy Dyment rep- resenting TVADC, Pauline Millar, Janice Trowsdale, Donna Williams, Mary Williams and Sylvia Winn.

FINANCIAL COMMITTEE: Paula Biggar representing TVADC, Philip Brown representing TVADC, John Maynard representing TVADC and Lorraine Robinson.
