new building was built for Evangeline Credit Union on property former¬ ly owned by Melvin Marchbank who operated a garage there for many years. The official opening of the new Credit Union building was held on February 19, 1999. The building which had contained the Village Office and Library before the Credit Union, was then used for different pur¬ poses, adding to a long history of uses dating back to when it was Dougald Stewart 's shop where he built sleighs. Kevin Kadey began Kadey's Accounting Services in Tyne Valley in November, 1996 providing service for corporate and personal accounting. In 2001, he joined Investors Group Financial Services, Inc . as a Financial Consultant. Charlene Williams of Tyne Valley is a photographic artist and in 1996 began her business, Charlene Williams Photography . Several residents of this and surrounding areas have been outstanding in political life, some as Members of the Legislature and some as Members of Parliament, with one, Hon. Keith Milligan of Tyne Valley attaining the office of Premier of Prince Edward Island in 1996. Tyne Valley has four apartment complexes for seniors. Two of the build¬ ings are operated by Health Housing—the ' A ' Building, also known as Hilton J. MacNeill Apartments, and the 'B' Building in the Tyne Valley Subdivision. Allison Smith of Freetown owns the Apartments, which are on the road to . The Hummingbird Apartments owned by Douglas Ferguson of O'Leary were officially opened on September 17,1999. In August 2000 Debbie Brady opened a graphic design business called Graphically Speaking which is operated out of her home. Oyster House and Pub owned by Matthew McGuire began business on June 23, 2001 in a newly renovated building that had been built as a store by James Forbes in 1879. In 2001 Blye Ross and Donna MacKendrick (nee Hansen) opened a pub¬ lishing company Here to Serve. New business operations continue to develop, adding to the growth and vitality of the area.
