Question 60 asked: " Were there many bears 50 years ago, and were they dangerous?”. In addition to the eleven respondents above, four others answered the question positively (George Brace of Charlottetown [settled 1832], William Jenkins of Pownal, Neil McCallum of Brackley Point, and Dr. John Mackieson of Charlottetown [settled 1821]). Question 89 asked: ”Do you know anything of the existence of moose on the /s/and?”. Respondents 1, 8 and 1 1 above, plus one other (Ewen McMillan of West River [b. 1815]), said they had found ’moose horns’, while respondents 3 and 9 above, plus one other (Dr. John Mackieson of Charlottetown), had not heard of moose on the island. Question 65 asked in part: "Were wi/dpigeons ever here?”.
