EARLY DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FORESTS OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND: THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY THE SOURCE-BOOK EXTRACTS The following pages present extracts from six scientific studies containing material relevant to the description and classification of the forests of Prince Edward Island, all published between 1929 and 1961. The extracts are presented in chronological order. The few brief additions to the text (usually for purposes of clarification or explanation) are put in square brackets, and where these do not use the author’s words, they have been put in italics. For each extract there is an introduction which provides a brief comment on the relevance of the forest-related material to the analysis and classification of the forests of the island. When any of the extracts are cited in the introduction to this report the author’s surname has been bolded.
