Introduction It is our hope that this book will evoke happy memories of the times we shared while we lived and studied at St.Dunstan's. The idea of compiling these short biographies had its genesis at a luncheon meeting almost two years ago when Ernie Macdonald and Irene Burge introduced it. The suggestion was immediately accepted and although the task seemed somewhat daunting at the time it has proved to be not only worthwhile but rewarding beyond any expectation. Ernie who coordinated the project has said "at times I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and respect that family members expressed for our classmates who were husbands or fathers or a mother, who had passed away. This opportunity to pay their respects in written form seemed to be very important and their words touched us deeply." Our particular purpose was to preserve for family members a little of the character of the class, the spirit of St. Dunstan's and the happenings in the lives of the graduates over the past fifty years. It is probable too that some degree of nostalgia prompted us to re-live what our children now call "the olden days." The luncheon group became a committee; addresses were sought and letters written. By letter, phone and E-mail responses were returned. We met from time to time for updates and continued to share tasks as we proceeded with plans. With the cooperation and help of many the book became a reality. Our appreciation and gratitude go out to the graduates and family members of graduates who were so generous in their sharing of events over the years since graduation. Their cooperation has made the success of this project possible. We believe that you will find in the lives of the members of the class of'51 abundant evidence of the values instilled by our beloved university, St. Dunstan's .
