In 1947 Gerry married Gabrielle (Gail) Goulet and they became the

parents of six children: Charles is an engineer with Quebec Hydro and lives in Montreal;

Margaret ( born in PEI inl950) works with Civil Service and lives in Gatineau, P.Q.;

Rosemary also works with the Civil Service and lives in Ottawa; David works with building supplies and lives in Embrum, Ontario; Lucy works with Civil Service and lives in Orleans, Ontario.

Paul is a bank manager and lives in Aylmer, P.Q,;

Gerry notes that a significant occurrence in his life, taking second place to his marriage to Gail and the births of their children, has been his work on a PHD which was completed with the exception of the thesis. This was thwarted when someone else published in his area of research. His interest in The Co-operative Housing movement was demonstrated by the building of a house in cooperation with 33 others and writing a manual for co-op builders. Promoting Co-op Housing has been an enjoyable experience which he continues to treasure. Now with 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Gerry has a full time job being patriarch of a growing dynasty.

Gerry retired in 1989 and spends his winters in Florida avoiding the winter snows and playing golf. Other enjoyable activities include working with

his parish (1954-1982) in Aylmer, P.Q. where he and Gail built their Co-op house. They have since sold this home to their son.

His recollections of St. Dunstan’s include becoming fiiends with Brendan and Leah (Brothers) O’Grady, visiting the North Shore every Sunday in the summer of 1950, and being a professor and student at the same time. He especially enjoyed Professor O’Grady’s courses and still keeps in contact with the O’Gradys.

Gerry comments that he and Gail still enjoy visits to Prince Edward Island and have visited as recently as 1996.
