gratifying, Editorial Assistant to the Managing Editor of the "Beaver", a weekly tabloid paper for Military personnel and their families in . On completing his tour with the Army Duncan taught school in B.C . for a year, then on to Saskatchewan where he taught for two more years; the second year as Assistant Principal. John Eldon Green 's course in Social Philosophy at SDU was the inspiration for Dune to apply for work as a Social Worker. He retired 22 years later in 1985 having progressed from Social Worker, to Casework Supervisor, then on to Assistant District Office Manager at the Calgary Office. His most satisfying work since retirement has been with the Siksika Nation (formerly known as the Blackfoot) where he was involved with the delivery of child welfare services to band members. While completing his Masters Degree in Social Work, Duncan was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship by the University of Calgary. Duncan married Ila Mae Jarvis in 1967 and had one daughter, Catherine who resides in Regina Saskatchewan . He also became stepfather to four children as a result of his marriage. One of these is deceased, the others live in various parts of Alberta. All three are married and have children. A recent serious problem for Duncan was a cancerous kidney which was removed in 1996. Since that time he has had regular checkups and is quite pleased with the good health he enjoys. A very enjoyable experience for Duncan at the present time is the game of golf. He has been a member of the Henderson Lake Golf Club in Lethbridge since his move there in 1992. He and a regular partner play 18 holes five times a week. He was already in his 60's with a bit of arthritis when he took up the game. Accordingly, he says, " I don't expect that I will ever be anything more than a high handicap duffer" Duncan's most memorable recollection of life at St. Dunstan's "one memory that will never be erased is to have been part of the Rector's clean sweep in 1949 where I and 12 others found ourselves on an unplanned holiday. On a more positive note 1 can never forget the hockey team winning the Maritime Inter¬ collegiate Championship in a sudden death game with St. F.X. , although the year of the event escapes me. I can now truly look back on those years at SDU with considerable fondness. I have not been a member of any group since that time where there has been a kind of mutually supportive attitudes such as was experienced at St. Dunstan's . Since SDU I have obtained two degrees but the connectedness with the University of Calgary in no way compares with St. Dunstan's . Even while attending U of C full time, I hardly knew whether their sports teams were winning or losing."
