Charles was born in Newtown Cross, Prince Edward Island, on January 31, 1929, the 2nd child in a family of six, to Michael and Hannah (McCarthy) Morrissey. He attended elementary school in Newtown Cross and in 1944 entered St. Dunstan’s where he studied for three years before beginning a career in teaching. He returned to St. Dunstan’s and completed

the requirements for the BA. Degree graduating in 1951.

Following graduation from St. Dunstan’s, Charlie worked in Hamilton but like so many other Islanders was enticed West by the harvest excursion trains. He chose to settle in Alberta and thus began long time
