Gustave was born June 29‘“, 1929, the fourth of seven children to Dora (Duchesneau) and Philippe Plante in Armagh, Co. Bellechasse, Province of Quebec. Gus attended elementary school in Armagh, high school at College de Levis, Seminaire de Quebec, College St. Laurent de Montreal and St. Dunstan’s graduating with a Bachelor in Arts from SDU in 1951. Then it was on to Laval Medical School from which he graduated with a MD. in 1956.

Gustave worked as a general practitioner in Armagh from 1956 to 1963, then to Montmagny from 1963 to 1977, and finally in St. Foy from 1977 to 1996. He was Mayor of Armagh from 1959 to 1963, Prefect of Bellechasse from 1961 to 1963, and a member of the National Assembly of Quebec for Bellechasse from 1960 to 1962.

On December 27*, 1957 Gus married Andree Morin and they became the parents of three children:

Esther born December 2, 195 8 is a lawyer and is married to Michel Pare. They have two children: Andree-Ann and Laurence.
