Jerry attended Notre Dame Academy and Prince of Wales College before coming to S.D.U. in 1947.

While she was at S.D.U., her father and stepmother lived in Summerside. Her varied participation in campus activities have made her one of the best known personalities of the class. In “48-’49, she served as Councilor for the C.C.S.M.C. and was a member of the coed chorus. In her Junior year at S.D.U. she was Vice- President of M.I.D.L. Following graduation Jerry took a program in social work at the University of Montreal. It was while she was a student there that symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis became manifest. Despite the fact that all her courses were in French and she was finding it increasingly more difficult to deal with the crippling symptoms of M.S., Jerry persevered and got her Social Wbrk Degree.
