81. A New Beginning

It was at dawn, when the nighttime gives way to a new day’s beginning and the sky is filled with beautiful shades of yellow, orange and pink hues, when Eileen awakened from her dream. The dream had

brought with it a fresh sense of hope. Eileen’s thoughts returned again to the dream - it had seemed so real.

The dream had started with Eileen finding herself at the entrance of the path which leads from her parents’ home to Dennis and Brenda’s home. She had walked this path many times in reality, and so had her parents. Eileen found herself walking along the path towards her brother’s place. Before she had reached midway, her eyes beheld a wondrous sight, as right ahead of her stood her Dad. He was now walking towards her. He seemed to have a lightheartedness about him, which Eileen had not seen in years. Even in her dream Eileen seemed to know that Alphy was not of this world anymore.

She gazed at him in amazement, and asked, “ Is it really you, Dad?”

Alphy’s only response was, “I can’t talk now, I’m on my way home.”

Eileen then asked her father, “Where is your walker?” He answered, “Where I’m going, I won’t need it.” Then Eileen awakened.

Now Eileen pondered about the dream. In it, her father had appeared ‘as big as life’, and he had seemed so happy, with boundless energy surrounding him. This image of her father remained very vivid in Eileen’s mind, and with it came a strong sense of joy. Eileen could finally ‘let go’. She knew that her Dad was with the Lord.
