TIM , Iphy not in a respectful way, as Saint Anthony's picture was now upside down. Rita then scolded him, "You can stay like that until I get my shoes". Rita did eventually get her shoes, and Margurita remembered that she had apologized to Saint Anthony. Margurita smiled as she recalled that day so long ago. She expressed that the best gift is the joy of giving. In late December, 1967 Margurita was busy with holiday prepar¬ ations. She was occupied with the task of preparing care packages for needy families in the community. Margurita had knit mittens and made fudge to go in the packages, but she also wanted to include other items such as children's story books, coloring books, and crayons. She made a list of things to include and then asked Dennis to drive her to Alberton to pick up these items. On this particular day, Eileen and Joan had also gone for the drive. The girls wanted to do some shopping of their own. Dennis dropped off the eager shoppers, on in Alberton , and he told his mother that he would meet her in an hour's time. When Margurita and the girls had finished their shopping, they stepped outside. As they walked down the sidewalk, Margurita realized that she had forgotten an item. She told Eileen and Joan to wait in the parked car for her. She opened the car door and put in her Christmas parcels. Eileen and Joan told their mother, "This is not Dennis' car." Margurita motioned the girls to get inside, and assured them that it was. She hastily made her way back to Callaghan's Store . Eileen and Joan looked at each other, not sure if they should stay or get out, but they were sure this was not Dennis' car. 117
