completed, Alphy put a small engine in it so that it would be
mobile in the water. He could hardly wait for the spring to come, so that he could sail it.
As soon as spring arrived, Alphy set sail with the Titanic which he christened in a nearby pond of water, using his aluminum boat to monitor it, with his favorite companion - Margurita - by his side. Margurita was Alphy’s most diligent fan, and she always accompanied him during all of his excursions.
Another means of entertainment for the couple was a small Ski- Doo which Alphy bought. He built a sleigh in which the children could sit comfortably in pairs. He would spend hours taking the grandchildren for rides. This was a great pastime.
In earlier years there was one wee fan, who was more keen then the rest. His name was Donald McKenna, the couple’s grandson. During his first two years, Donald would stay with his grandparents during the day when his mother was teaching school. Donald was an ‘outdoor’ guy who never wanted to go indoors. Even when his face was red from the cold, Donald insisted that he wanted to stay outside. He would always ask his grandfather to take him for “one
more drive” on the Ski—D00.
In later years, Alphy and Margurita would spend many hours on a larger snowmobile, an Arctic Cat... Alphy’s ‘speed machine.’
