Alphy would make a fire in the snow, and Margurita would heat a

pot of stew and boil some tea. The children would often roast hot dogs over the fire.

Margurita would sometimes joke about Alphy driving “like a teenager’ on the Arctic Cat. For the most part, Alphy was a cautious driver, especially if he had children on the snowmobile. But he was more of a rebel when he and Margurita were driving alongside their sons. Alphy would sometimes show off to impress the younger drivers. On a few occasions, he would try to outdo his sons, Ivan and Dennis.

One day Alphy and Margurita were snowmobiling with Dennis, who was driving his own Ski—D00. Alphy was ahead of Dennis and maintaining speed, when suddenly he pressed on the gas throttle unexpectedly to get up asteep ditch ahead. Margurita was holding on but had not expected Alphy to accelerate so fast. She tumbled off the back of the snowmobile and rolled downwards into the ditch. Alphy didn’t stop until he made it to the top of the snow bank. Only then did he realize that he had lost his passenger.

Margurita got up and shook the snow off herself. She did not get hurt in the soft snow, but she recalled another time, when she

had seen stars...

Alphy and Margurita were making their daily trek to the woods on the Arctic Cat. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the snow glistened in the sun like a million tiny diamonds. The snowmobile trail wound to and fro over the fields and into the wooded area up ahead. The snow blew around the side of the snowmobile like a white mist. As they reached the woods, Alphy loosened his grip on the gas throttle to reduce the speed before entering the wooded area.

When they had reached a secluded spot in the woods, Alphy Stopped the Arctic Cat for a moment. As they observed the
