This was made possible by the “88 in 88” fundraising drive the previous year. In 1982, after Rev. Mr. Fourney’s departure, a house on 348 Argyle Street was purchased to be used as the church manse. Rev. Mr. Elford and his successor, Rev. Kathy Brownlee, resided there. It was sold in 1984 and the Bernard house at 137 Victoria Road was purchased for use as a manse. It became the home for Rev. Bert Vancook after his arrival. Rev. Bert Vancook became minister of Summerside Presbyterian Church in 1985. He continued to foster the growth and prosperity of the church.
