MATILDA GIBSON LOWERY b. about 1823 in Marshfield, Lot 34, was the daughter of Robert Gibson and Jane McCracken/McKracken. Her father, Robert Gibson was born 1778 in Londerry County, Ireland. He died Oct 30, 1842. (It was said that he emigrated 23 yrs before.) Her mother, Jane (McKrachen) Gibson also of Ireland died 2“d Nov., 1877.

From the 1841 census of Lot 34, we find Robert Gibson, St. Peters Road, distiller with a family of eight. Religion is listed as Church of Scotland 6, RC 2. Origin: PEI 4, Ireland 4. Number of passages paid is by self 4. In his household at this time we find two females and one male under 16, two females and one male 16-45, and one male 45-60, and one male 60+.

Years of lease expired, 2 of 100. Total in family including servants is nine. We find four males under 16, four females and one male between 16—45.
From the 1848 Census we find a John Lowery, blacksmith, residing in Charlottetown Royalty. Religion: Methodist — six. Origin PEI - six. There is one female and three males under 16, one female and one male between 16—45 for a total of 6 in the family, including servants.
