The Robertson Family of Marshfield
FIRE ON THE OLD HAYTHORNE FARM
SERIOUS FIRE - We learn with much regret that all the outbuildings on the old Haythorne farm, at Marshfield, owned by Peter MacNair Robertson Esq., together with all his farming implements including valuable machines, also about 12 tons of hay, seed oats, wheat and straw, with 5 valuable calves were destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon last. Mr. Robertson was working but a few chains distant from the fire when it was discovered in the coach house, but he was unable to save anything and it was only with the active exertions of his neighbours that the dwelling house was saved. The farm was one of the best equipped in the country, and Mr. Robertson’s loss is about $4000, which is only partially covered by insurance. The origin of the fire is unknown.
