The lst Marshfield Boy Scout Troop, Wolf Cub Pack and Beaver Colony

and was officially opened on May 25, 1966.2 A sense of family and church was emphasized with the Annual Father and Son Banquet usually held at York Hall. The Annual Church Service & Parade was a regular event which changed venues between the three churches in York, Marshfield and Dunstaffnage.

The 1St Marshfield Scout Troop was active in the area for almost 20 years until the troop was disbanded in 1980. It remained inactive until revived again in 1990 under the leadership of Bruce Peveril. Due to a shortage of leaders all the Marshfield programs ceased existence and sponsorship was not renewed beyond 1997.14

When the history of Scouting in Marshfield is being reviewed, the significant contribution made to the movement by the MacBeath family is obvious. The book “The History of Scouting

Prince Edward Island” by the 1914 Patrol makes notable mention of the participation of the MacBeath family in Scouting over the years. While researching files at the Provincial Scout Headquarters, the frequent references to Doris MacBeath in her various direct and indirect roles in Scouting leadership is impressive. Doris was awarded the Wood Badge in February 1964 and was an active Cubmaster for 14 years. Even though she volunteered more than her share of formal leadership roles, for many more years she continued her dedicated work behind the scenes in support of the movement.

A summary of Marshfield Registration Records at the Provincial Scout Headquarters lists the following names as Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Group Committee Chairpersons. Although the list is extensive, it is not believed to be complete. 3'4
