William (2“), a farmer and mill maker, married Jane Stewart of Appletree Farm and had three children: William J ., Charles, and Janet. William did as his father’s will directed, for his two sisters did not marry and in the 1881 census, both Grace (aged 60) and Jessie (54) are both listed as living in his household. When William died on the 29 June 1890, the Daily Examiner reported:
“Death, at Marshfield, Lot 34, on the 29’”, Mr. W. Scott aged sixty-seven years. The deceased was one of the best farmers and mechanics in the province and was highly esteemed in the community in which he lived for his solid worth. He was for many years a consistent member of the Baptist church. By his death, the church and the community, as well as his family have suflered a great loss.”5
In William’s (2“) will, registered July 22, 1890 he left everything to his spouse Jane, and after her death, to their son William. In this will, William also directed his son to keep his brother Charles. He left $200 to his niece Jane Louise and appointed Alexander McGregor and John A. Ferguson executors of his will, which was signed on May 17, 1890.6 Jane died January 9, 1901 at eighty—three years of age,7 at which time her son William (3“) inherited the farm.

On August 4, 1919, William (3”) and Florence conveyed seventy-three acres (S 13) to their son James Stanley.9 In this conveyance, Janet, Emma, and Florence are listed as “spinsters,” Charles a “retired solider,” and Alexander a “farmer.”
William (3“) died in 1937 and his son James Stanley died April 4, 1971. In his will, dated April 26, 1956 James Stanley bequeathed everything to his son Allison, who occupies this portion of the property to this day.10
