emigrated from England in 1841. Enoch married Eliza Square Brigs on June 17, 1866 in Montrose, P.E.I. Enoch and his family came to Marshfield in 1908, first buying the James Robertson farm and moving to this property in 1915.15

Enoch and Eliza’s family consisted of four boys and three girls: Mabel, Herbert, William, Vernon, Roy, Ruth and Viola. This family’s contribution to the musical and social life of Marshfield and cannot be over emphasized. Their vocal and instrumental talents were given freely. Wilfred Dennis, son of Roy (Bertie Stewart), relates when he was a child in the 1930’s, meeting at his uncle Bill’s on Sunday evenings and all the family would sing and play various instruments for hours at a time.

Viola (Irving Thompson), was the organist at Central United Church for more than fifty years and is remembered for her gifted ear for music. Irving, her husband was a choir member for many years. Ruth (Alec Scott), was the lead alto in the same choir while Alec was adept at singing either tenor or bass. Roy and his wife Bertie, along with Vernon, who was a gifted bass and violinist, and his wife Ruby (Stewart), were also members of the Central Choir for many years.

Neighbour, Art Rhynes, remembers when Bill, Herb, Viola and Ruth sang regularly on CFCY radio in the thirties. They also entertained at variety concerts, seniors clubs, wedding and anniversary parties and many other occasions.

The property was next owned by Harry C. Muttart (1889-1957). Harry served in the field ambulance, R.A.M.C. and was married to Gladys Ferguson of Marshfield.16 In 1932 Harry Muttart sold the farm to Henry John Tuenter”.

Tuenter, originally from Westandorp, Holland, died on January 8, 1981 in Marshfield. Administrators to his will, June Boswall and her husband Lincoln purchased the property in 1981.18 Today it is owned by their son Kerry Boswall who lives on the property with his wife Dianne and their three children Christopher, Valerie and Spencer.
