March 16,1923 transferred from Hugh Ramsay to Richard Ellis transferred to Frederick Ellis Hugh Ramsay married Nettie Harington of Kensington who died young with T.B ., they had no children. The house was destroyed by fire. Hugh sold the farm to Richard Ellis and left the Island. Hugh married a second time, this time to Melvina, his first wife's sister. This house was built in 1880's, on the property of Charlie Colwffl and moved to present site in the early 40's. Some of the kids, on their way to school one morning, got a drive in the house. Leland and Leila lived here for a few years, (ref. to Cindy Jones). Frederick Ellis married Fanny Cook and lived in the U.S. They had two children: Evelyn and Richard, and later divorced. Fred then married Delia Baglole of Northam in 1943. Fred was a heavy equipment operator and Delia was a housewife. Fred passed away in 1986.They had four children: - James F . married Cecile Arsenault (ref. to James and Cecile Ellis) - Glenn married William Berry of Bedeque and has one son, Aaron. - Jackie married Winnie Enman , later Joan Praught, and still later Dena Gaudet (ref. to Jackie Ellis) - Darlene married Randy Yeo (ref. to Randy & Darlene Yeo) The house is now vacant. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx One of the gentlemen in the community offered a drive to a native woman in his horse- drawn buggy. When she got to her destination and was getting down from the wagon, she said "thanks for the drive Mr.", to which his reply was "Aw, don't mention it".
