1851:

D. “At Boston, USA. through the bursting of a boiler, on the 9th ult., Mr. Alex. Fergusson, aged 20 years, son of Mr. Peter Fergusson, Georgetown Royalty. The deceased lived for 2 days after the accident occurred and his melancholy end is deeply regretted by a large circle of friends and acquaintances who esteemed him for his moral worth.”

D. “At Georgetown, after a short illness, on Sunday the 16th inst. Clementina, wife of Capt. John Macdonald (Islander, Mar. 21, 1851)

D. "In Warwick, Bermuda, on the 24th ult, after a protracted illness, Samuel H. Gilbert, Esq., aged about 35 years. Mr. Gilbert formerly carried on a business in

Georgetown, on this Island." (Royal

Gazette, April 22, 1851)

D. "At Georgetown, on Saturday last after a lingering illness, James

Macdonald, Esq., M.P.P. aged 30 years." (Haszard's Gazette, Oct. 28, 1851). [Another interpretation of reports might give 25 Sept. 1851 as his death date. He was one of the members of the Assembly for Georgetown. The election of his successor was the occasion for a political contretemps with charges of vote rigging, etc..]

M. Hugh MacLellan, Grand River, to Magdalen, daughter of the late Hugh McPhee of Georgetown Royalty.”

1852:

D. “On Friday night the 2nd inst., at the hour of eleven o’clock, at his residence, St. Andrew’s Point, Mr. John Wightman, a native of Dumfriesshire, Scotland, at the advanced age of 85 years, after a fortnight of painful illness

which he bore with Christian fortitude and resignation to the Divine Will. The remains of the deceased were interred on Monday the 5th in the presence of a numerous following of mourners amounting to nearly two hundred and all widow, a son and a daughter to mourn

their sad bereavement.”(lslander, Jan. 9, 1852)

M. "On Thursday last, by the Rev. Mr. Dabareuil, Mr. Martin O'Halloran, Georgetown, to Miss Barbara Cass, 4th daughter of the late Mr. William Cass, of Covehead." (Haszard's Gazette, Tues., Jan. 13, 1852)

M. "By the Rev. Mr. Smallwood, on the 10th inst., Mr. Samuel Lane. Jr. of Lot 49 to Miss Mary McKeown of Georgetown.” (Islander, Jan. 23, 1852).

[They moved to Mass. and had a son, John Richard Lane]

M. “AtGeorgetown, on the 9th of March by William MacKay, Esq., J.P., Sgt. Alexander Reid of the 42nd Royal Highlanders to Miss Catherine Logan, third daughter of Mr. Hugh Logan. jail— keeper, Georgetown." (Islander , Mar. 9. 1852)

M. " At Launching Place, on the 26th ult., by Rev. Francis Macdonald, Mr. John Smith [Georgetown], to Miss

Margaret Scott, of Nova Scotia." (Islander, May 7, 1852)

M. “At Georgetown, on the 12th ult., by Wm. Sanderson, Esq., J.P., Mr. Donald Fergusson, blacksmith, to Miss Jessie McPhee, Antigonish, N.S..” (Islander June 18, 1852)
