D. "A young man named Alexander Steele, mate of the brigantine, William , was drowned off Panmure Island Friday evening While fishing, he accidentally fell overboard. A board was thrown to assist him in floating. This he caught hold of but it is supposed that the vessel which was underway struck him and thus he sank. He was born in London, Eng. in 1800, emigrated to PEI. with his family in 1807 , was apprenticed to “Mr. Chappell” in Charlottetown as a carpenter and millmight, eventually farmed at Albion and Lower Montague; left 7 sons and 3 daughters.
