D. By drowning at McPhee’s Beach, Cardigan River, Fred Hession, age 21, son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Hession and brother to Sgt. Edmond Hession of the First Canadian South Africa Contingent. His small brother, Stephen, and two other boys watched helplessly. (From Patriot, Aug. 3, 1901)
