D. “Atthe Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, on Jan. 13, William Cherry, formerly of Georgetown, P.E.I. . He leaves to moum besides his grief-stricken widow, five daughters and four sons.” (Guardian, Jan. 25, 1933)

At Georgetown, Feb. l9th, aged 84, Mrs. Mary MacDonald, nee Mary Poole of Roseneath, and proprietor of the MacDonald Hotel, Georgetown She was the widow of the late John MacDonald and leaves to mourn a son, Capt. Edward, two daughters, Miss Mamie and Miss Bessie who have been conducting the hotel for a number of years; also a sister, Mrs. Thomas Richard of Alberry Plains. (From Patriot, Feb. 22, 1933)

D. On March 19th, at the home of her daughter, Summerside, Mrs. Isabella Jean Aitken, widow of the late G. Albert Aitken, age K5. She was the daughter of the late John Ross and was conductor of the Aitken Hotel in Georgetown. There are left to moum three daughters: Mrs. C. W. D. On Apr. 11, aged 84, Samuel Hemphill. He was a shipbuilder and pilot before gasoline replaced sail and was Harbour Master at Georgetown for years. lntcrrnent in Holy Trinity Cemetery. (From Patrim, Apr. 18, 1933)

D. In Gloucestershirc, England, April 19, Rev. David Cogswell, aged 83, Anglican priest. He was a native of Georgetown, P.E.l., the son of James Cogswell, P.E.l., and is survived by three sons , one of whom James E. resides in Saint John, NB, the others being in England ; also a sister Mrs. H. McLeod, Vancouver. His wife, Mary Isabel Morris, of Scotland, predeceased him. (From Patriot, May. 8, 1933)

D. At Georgetown, April 19th, Ethel G. Morrisey, aged 40, leaving to moum beside her father, two sisters, lsabel and Stella at home and two brothers, E. J. Hodgson Morrisey, vice-principal of Queen Square School, Charlottetown, and Tupper Morrisey, station agent at Malagash, N.S.. At the home of his brother, Lorin Brehaut, Georgetown, Louis Brehaut, M.A., B,Sc., “one of the most brilliant scholars and educationists which P.E.l. has produced.” He was born in Murray Harbor in 1891, the son of George R. Brehaut and Margaret Macannon of Uigg, sister of the late D.A. MacKinnon, former Lieut— Govemor of P.E.I. . He was a Rhodes Scholar, studied at Oxford and taught at St. Andrew’s Univ. in Scotland, and at Manchester Univ. and then became professor of Greek at the University of Saskatchewan. His career ended when he came home invalided from the Canadian Infantry after World War 1. Left to mourn are his father six brothers and two sisters. The brothers are: Alder, Barrister at Law, North Battleford, Sask; Ernest in New Jersey; Dr. Lester, Murray Harbour, Hammond, in the USA; John in Murray Harbour and Lorin in Georgetown. The sisters are Cora in North Battleford, Sask. and Elsie in Mass. . (From Patriot, May 25, 1933)

M. At St. James Church, Georgetown, June 14th, Miss Mary David, youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph David, and Frank Paquet of Souris. Attendants were Miss Josie McKie and Clarence David. They will reside n Souris. (From Patriot, June 26, 1933)

D. At Georgetown, July 25th, Thomas E. Morrisey, after a lingering illness. He was bom in Nova Scotia in 1863 but has lived in Georgetown for many years. He was a customs officer at the port, retiring from that position on May lst, 1929, when the office was terminated. There are left to moum two sons, E. J. Hodgson, and Tupper, and a daughter, Stella. D. At Georgetown, July 27, 1933, Mrs. James C. Manuel, aged 77. She was born Darnaris Westaway, of Lower Montague, and was twice married, first to John Collings of Sturgeon and then to James Manuel, Georgetown. She leaves to mourn a son, Percy, in Charlottetown and a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Jenkins [Myrtle] of Georgetown. Funeral from the Baptist Church, Georgetown . (From Patriot, July 28, 1933)

D. On Sept. 5th, at Lower Montague, Roger Dart Westaway in his 8151 year. He lived on the Westaway farm, Ryefield, St. Andrew’s Point, which had been in the family for over a hundred years. He kept the lighthouse near his raidenee. His paternal ancestors came from the River Dart area in Devon, England, and he had ancestry through the New England family, the Creeds, from those who came to this continent on the Mayflower.
