1946:

B. “At the King’s County Hospital, Montague, P.E.l., Feb. 18th, 1946, to Mr, & Mrs. Neil Wight, Georgetown, P.E.l., ason.” (Guardian, Feb. 22, 1946)

D. Atthe Charlottetown Hospital, Feb. 23, 1946, John A. Morrison, aged 81. He was a veteran of service in the North-West Rebellion of 1885 with the Princess Louise Fusiliers of Halifax. He was born in Mabou, Cape Breton, Jan. 21, 1865, but in 1878 had moved to Georgetown where his father, Peter Morrison, canied on a tailoring business for thirty years. John A. assisted in this after his return from the West. He saw action again in 1917 in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps and on his return resided in Charlottetown. His wife, Josephine Dalton, of Souris, died in 1938. Surviving are five sons and four daughters; a surviving sister is Mrs. Dan. J. MacCormack of Boughton Island. (From Guardian, front

D. On Mar. 10th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Gay, Montague, Mrs. Angus Matheson, formerly of Georgetown, aged 80. She was born Emma Jay at Pisquid and married first the late Murdoch McLean, well-known shoemaker and lobster—preserver at Georgetown. Her second husband, Angus Matheson, survives her. By her first marriage she leaves to mourn Annie (Mrs. Lester Gay); Katherine (Mrs. Silas Gratto), Pictou Landing, N. 5.; Carrie (Mrs. Charles Gratto), Trenton. NS; Pearl, (Mrs. Stewart McKillop), Trenton, NS, Dorenda (Mrs. Fred Chandler), Charlottetown; Louise (Mrs. Fred Allen, Georgetown; Samuel in the USA; Malcolm in Georgetown; Stewart in the Canadian Navy. Hartman, Elsie May Hearn, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Hearn, Georgetown, to Sheldon Ernest Ross, son of Mrs. Nettie Ross and the late Peter Ross, Georgetown. Attendants were Mrs. Lewis Wright, sister of the bride and George Boudreault. The couple will reside in Georgetown where the groom has an up-to date blacksmith business. D. At Georgetown, P.E.l., May 21, 1946, Mrs. John J. Murphy, aged 49. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn two sons: Brainerd of the R.C.A.F. and Joseph at

D. At the home of her son, Allister Stewart, on May 27th, Mrs. A.C. Stewart, aged 82. She was born in Charlottetown, July 16th, 1864, as Mary Emily Hobbs. Her husband, Alex. Stewart, predeceased her in 1900. She leaves to moum two sons: Allister and Havelock, both veterans. The daughters are: Mrs. George Brace, Tofield, Alta; Mrs. William King, Winnipeg; Mrs. Jordan Fenberg, Pennsylvania. A brother, William Hobbs resides in Georgetown; Arthur, Benjamin and Martha are in the USA. (From Patriot May 30, 1946)

D. On June 12, in Georgetown, Richard Hearn, in his 641h year. He was born in Staplehurst, Kent Co, England in 1882. Twice married, his first wife predeceased him in Nov. 1918 in England. In 1922, he married Mabel Straddling of London, England who survives him. The family emigrated to Canada in May 1926. Left to mourn are sons and daughters. By his first marriage: Doris (Mrs. George Mair), Burnt Point; lvy (Mrs. Lewis Wright), bower Montague; Sybil (Mrs. Alex MacKenzie) of Sydney, N.S.. By his second marriage Richard, at home; Elsie (Mrs. Sheldon Ross), Gladys & Lily all of Georgetown. Funeral by Rev. G. R. Hartman to the Church of England Cemetery, Georgetown. He was a veteran of two wars and was by his own request buried in his uniform. (From Guardian, June 18, 1946)
