     across the Strait to Nova 
     
     Scotia ..... Mother rented 
     
     house. Her husband 
     
     got a job in a car 
     
     factory. It lasted 
     
     weeks, so here we were 
     
     again. She gave the

     studs and boards. We went to Duke street school and our 
     
     chore after school was to head for the steel works woods, two 
     
     miles, with our hand sleighs for a load of wood ....... we went to 
     
     school and did this chore every evening. ..... our pants were
