Nathan Allen both died early that year. Following is a list of families who were on the Island just before the war of 1939.
The Joseph Allen family(We called him Joe Henry), wife Elizabeth, son Lem. They were an older family in my time.
The Alva Allen family, wife Sadie and daughter Elizabeth.
The Fred Allen family, wife Louise, son Malcolm (Mac), daughters Emma, Pearl, Ruby, Vivien, May and Beth.
Beth was the last child to be born on Boughton Island. After they
left the Island and moved to Georgetown, they had three more children, John, Billy and Freda.
The Joseph Gotell family, wife Emily, sons Joseph, Gordon, Basil, Kimball and daughter Mary.
The Daniel King family, wife Edna, sons Lloyd, John, Donald (twin) and Lionel, and daughters Frances, Beulah, Martha(twin) and Olive.
The Dan John MacCormack family, wife Annie, sons, Dan and John, and daughters Jen and Mary. Dan John died in early 1939. John, Jen and Mary all married and left the Island before the war.
The Wendell MacKenzie family, his wife, Muriel was formerly from Boughton Island, the daughter of Lem Allen. They had been living in Seal River and moved back to the Island in 1939 when Wendall joined the Air Force. They had three children, Eileen, Allen and Audrey who were all too young to attend school.
The James Allen family. James had left the Island, was married and lived in East Point. He later came back alone and lived on the Island for about five years before rejoining his family in East Point.
Some families had left the Island before I was old enough to remember, but their houses were still standing when l was a child. One of these houses belonged to John James MacCormack. Years later
