The oldest recorded name on a stone is Margaret Sloan, wife ofjohn Milligan, who died in 1806 at forty-two years of age. According to record; John Milligan arrived in Lot 16 in 1825 so it seems Margaret Sloan is named but not actually buried there. Margaret Caven, wife of Robert Milligan and daughter-in—law of John Milligan, was buried in Lot 16 Presbyterian Cemetery in 1829, the oldest confirmed burial.

The cemetery has undergone five expansions; three since 1960. The present sanctuary was built in 1877 and eighty-four burials are recorded up to that time. Of those, eight are chil- dren of Charles and Margaret Ramsay, six of whom are unnamed infants. No record exists of the burial of Charles and Margaret Ramsay. There are twenty-three known unmarked and unnamed graves in the Lot 16 Cemetery.

Charts exist recording graves in the cemetery. The oldest one, from midJuly 1915, records 343 burials. Current charts are kept as are written records. Following is a summary of sta— tistics taken from these records.

A stone monument, naming the Lot 16 United Church Cemetery, was donated by Bill (WR) and Ella Miller in 1981 and stands in the southwest corner by the driveway leading to the vault. For many years, the Millers were caretakers of the

cemetery and Bill handled all the business aHairs until his death in 1997. The United Church community of Lot 16 takes great pride
