Lot 16 UCW is a very strong support group for the Lot 16 community and church. The current membership is desirous that more church women be- come involved and oflicially join the group for the betterment of the organization.
YOUNG PEOPLE’S GROUPS Young People’s Union
The history of the Young People’s Union dates back to 1931. During that year there were two unions in existence, one for Central and one for Southwest. Worship, study, service, and recreation were the essential features of the program for the Young People’s Union. Fund raisers undertaken were Christmas con- certs and bean suppers. Staging a play was a favourite activity and enthusiasti- cally supported by the members. So grand was the response to the plays that performances were given across the province during the winter and early
spring months. On one occasion, certain members of the group had to make a call at the Summerside Police Station in the wee hours of the morning to solicit help in removing a pair of handcuffs from the wrists of Wilfred Hutchinson. He had been the villain in the play staged earlier in the evening- During the play he had been handcuffed, but the key would
