Reflections: Jo - Anne (MacLean) Wamboldt k Karen (MacLean) Steele, daughters of Allison and Edith MacLean. Our fondest memories of the Lot 16 United Church were being part ofthefunior Choir, CGIT, Vesper Service, and Christmas Eve Service. We enjoyed teaching Sunday School. It was a tradition at our house on afunior Choir Saturday night practice to have Grampie and Grammie Betton to supper. Joanne was the cook and we would have pizza. After supper we would go to Junior Choir practice and behave like little angels. Vacation Bible School For a number of years a Vacation Bible School was held one week of the summer. It was usually organized by the minister and members of the congregation assisted in its delivery. Bible School was always well attended and fondly remembered. Junior Choir In the fall of 1974, at the request of parents in the congrega¬ tion, a Junior Choir was formed under the direction of Robert W. Betton and Edith ( Betton ) MacLean. The Choir was open to all children living ; in the community. Choir was an enjoyable time for all who participated in the special choir pro¬ grams, the Christmas Eve services in the Belmont United Baptist Church, enter¬ tained seniors, and sang in other church¬ es. The choir looked very angelic in their blue and gold choir gowns. The Junior Choir had a life span of Reflections: Cathy (Clark) Stordy There was so much excitement when the basement of the church was redone so that we could have Sunday School in a new room. And there was the Lot 16Junior Choir and the Saturday evening practices; the patience and the exasperation of our director, Mr. Bob Betton and the dedication of our organist Mrs. Edith MacLean . We were so proud when we got to wear the new blue and yellow choir gowns, however those yellow dickies would mess our hair as we pulled them over our heads. 180 United Church and Its People
