John and Tineke Boschma
John and Tineke Boschma bought the “Forbes Farm” from William and Darla Hardy in Southwest Lot 16 in 1993. They came from Holland in 1990 and lived for three years in Irishtown before moving to Lot 16. It was a big step for the family to move to PEI, but they quickly felt at home in the church and in the farm community of Lot 16. The children went to Sunday School and youth groups._]ohn amd Tmeke joined the choir, and John was an elder from 1995-1997. He was also on the Board of Stewards and the Board of Trustees. Tineke was a Sunday School teacher for a few years and later became a CGIT leader. John and Tineka wrote the following:
“On December 5, 1996, we lost our oldest son, Harry,
in a car accident. The support from our minister and
community was unbelievable and very heartwarming.
We don’t have any family here on PEI, so to us, the
church was our family. You will be in our hearts forever.
Like Reverend Don once said, ‘Onee you are interested
in their history, they will be interested in yours.’ God is
interested in us all and knows each of our history.”
In 2002,]ohn, Tineke, Hank, andJanie Boschma moved to a dairy farm in Colby, Wisconsin, US. Dorithy remains in Lot 16.
Gerald and Debbie Caissy
Gerald and Debbie moved from Bedeque to Lot 16 when they built their home inJuly of 1993. Gerald’s home was Campbellton, NB and Debbie was a Coles from Charlotte- town. Both are teachers. They have three children, Tyler, Danielle, and Mitchell, who attend Sunday School and youth activities at Lot 16 United. Debbie has taught Sunday School and served on the manse committee.
Angus and Isabella Campbell
Angus Campbell of Canoe Cove married Isabella McLean of Lot 16 in 1853. She was the daughter of Donald McLean and his wife, Sarah McKinnon, of Southwest Lot 16 who owned a hundred acres of land and lived somewhere between the property of Mac MacLean and the Lot 17 line. They were known as the Garden MacLeans since they had a large
